Summary
The Nationalist with Chiang lost the Civial War and fled to what is now known as Taiwan. Taiwan then became the Nationalist China. On October 1st, 1949, Mao formed the People's Republic of China. Taiwan was recognized by the U.N. as the official China until 1972.
