Hitler started by joining the German Workers Party and due to his capability of being a charismatic leader he quickly became the leader within the Workers Party. He then changed the name of the party to the National Socialist German Workers Party (Nazi) and developed brownshirts to in force his laws. Hitler used the enabling act which gave him all of the power. The night of long knives was the night that that all other challengers to Hitler were killed. The prime minister Hindenburg even congratulated Hitler in his success. He died a month later, most likely killed by Hitler. He used the depression to his advantage; people were more willing to be extremists is it made a difference. Hitler was elected chancellor and prime minister with a 99.9% win. However, this elect was ridged in Hitlers favour. Hitler has official control of the government in 1934.

The Weimar Republic was a democratic formed after WWI in Germany. The Weimar Republic tried to support the German citizens while obliging to the Paris Peace Treaty. However, this did not go over well with the people of Germany. The people of Germany hated the resirtions of the Paris Peace Treaty and by association hated the Weimar Republic. As a result there was two attempts to take control of the government. One by what was left of the army and the other by Karl Liebknecht and Rosa Luxembury. Around this time in Italy, Mussolini toke power. Because King Emmanuel refused to sign an emergency legislation to prevent the take over, it was very successful and resulted in little violence. Mussolini used force as well as the support from the church to ensure that no on questioned his claim to power. He also used a number of fascist traits to remain in power such as censorship of the media, military action, anti-liberal, -anti-mass democracy and anti-socialism. Mussolini also used the acerb law to guarantee that his party would gain 2/3 of the seats, meaning that they had all the power.
While the movie Life is Beautiful isn't based on true events, it is based off of a historical era that plagued the world, and most specifically the Jews during the 30's in Europe. The movie started years before the war began. Guido meets a beautiful girl years before the war comenses and uses his wit and good humour to capture her heart. Five years later the war has crept into their lives and all three have been taken to concentration camps. The family was separated, however Guido was able to stay with his son and keep him hidden in the camp. Guido turns the camp into a game that they most win in order to get the prize, a tank. Guido not only tries to keep his son alive but he also tries to protect his innocence through the use of humour. When the concentration camp is finally saved at the end of WWII, Guido hides his son and tries to desperately save his wife from death. While trying to protect his family, he is killed. In the end the Dora (the wife) and the Joshua (the son) are reunited. Guido's efforts payed off, his family survived even if he didn't.
